A Day to Remember: The Khanyi and the Kite Book Launch

What a magical day it was!

The Khanyi and the Kite book launch was everything I could have dreamed of and more.

We had a full house filled with love, laughter, and excitement. Friends, family, and members of the press gathered to celebrate this special milestone, but the true stars of the day were my MVGs (Most Valuable Guests): the children.

Before the program even began, the garden was alive with giggles and sunshine as the kids enjoyed the jumping castleand shared in the fun. It was the perfect warm-up for the joyful afternoon ahead!

Once everyone gathered inside, the children took their special places in the golden circle floor seating right in front of me. Their bright eyes sparkled with curiosity and joy, their enthusiasm filling the room. They were smart, engaged, and beautifully present throughout the entire launch. No tears, just pure, radiant joy. Seeing them smile, laugh, and connect with Khanyi’s world reminded me exactly why I created this book in the first place.

One of the most special moments of the day was performing our theme song, “With Momo by My Side.”
Even though I had sung it twice before during my school visits (a story for another blog!), this time felt extra magical—singing it to a sea of excited little faces, some clapping, some dancing, all listening so intently. It was as if Momo himself was there, wagging his tail and soaking up the love.

After the reading, we shared a beautiful book signing moment, where I got to meet so many little readers and their families up close. There were hugs, photos, and heartfelt words that I’ll carry with me forever.

And of course, we couldn’t forget the cake. A sweet ending to a perfect celebration of stories, song, and togetherness.

It was truly a day of community, creativity, and connection. A reminder that stories have the power to bring us all together.
